70 kilos…my white whale

“‘All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in each event- in the living act, the undoubted deed- there, some unknown but still reasoning thing put forth the mouldings of its features from behind the unreasoning mask. If man will strike, strike through the mask! How can the prisoner reach outside except by thrusting through the wall? To me, the white whale is that wall, shoved near to me.'”

Captain Ahab, Moby Dick, Herman Melville

I know I have come a long way.  I have lost over 10% of my body weight, I wear a smaller size, I am fitter healthier and happier. But there has been one milepost I have been unable to overcome thus far, I cannot get under that 70 kilo mark.  Look here, logically I know that I WILL get there, as of today’s weigh in I am 70.1 kilos, but that 100 grams has become my white whale, my Moby Dick.  I have floated between 70 and 71 for a while now and it is very frustrating.  I know weight loss is about more than the numbers, but THIS number is taunting me.

I know that there are bigger things to be worried about but I just want to see a number in the 60’s when I jump on that scale….is that so wrong?  Thanks for indulging the rant of this particular Ahab….
