Goodbye Accelarator Day, hello Tighten Up Tuesday

On 12WBT at the week 9 point Mish has up until now made Tuesday an Accelarator Day.  An Accelarator Day is one day in the week when you have no fruits, sugars, breads, essentially no carbs.  Whilst others have commented before now that they struggled with these days, I never really had an issue with it.  I mean one day in a week without carbs was do-able.

Apparently, however, feeling this way made me some kind of weirdo, a member of the minority and as a consequence Accelarator Days are no more. As of tomorrow we meet Tighten Up Tuesday.  When I first read about this I thought “no probs, how bad could it be?”  Then I read the line that filled me with horror and dread – the whole day is about clean eating (again, no issue for me there, I go vege on Tuesdays anyway, so I’m used to kicking things up a notch each week on Tuesdays anyway) but CAFFEINE IS BANNED!

I am, by no stretch of the imagination, a morning person ( the fact that I am writing this at 11.20pm should have been your first clue). I have one coffee a day, admittedly it is the size of a small bucket, but it is just one. And it is in the morning.   And tomorrow we are taking 18 autistic children to the bowling alley on our class excursion.  We are walking along the Pacific Highway and then catching the train to Hornsby. My coffee is essential to my morning routine, especially tomorrow.

But I am trying to be a good little girl and I will stick to the problem.  As you are enjoying your cup of joe tomorrow, think of me and my green tea…Daisy, can I borrow your sad sheep cup?

  1. Haha sad sheep is thinking of you!! I am still going to have my small skinny cap this morning, I can’t see the point in cutting it out. I’ll try very hard otherwise tho :p

  2. How sad, accelerator days really worked too, what a shame. You may need a sad sheep cup of your very own reserved just for Tuesday!

  3. The shock of having to give up my cup lead me to stick with accelerator (although, I admit failed badly). But perhaps next week I can actually make the effort, rather than snorting! Perhaps I just reduce the size of my cup?

    • It is just mean to take away our coffee! I had a crap day on Tuesday (got soaked through in the rain walking back from our excursion, wasted my time in an excruciating staff meeting, hellish playground duty) and I blame it all on the lack of coffee. Bring back the accelerator day I say 🙂 Carbs vs caffeine, no contest!
