So let me fill you in….

Just thought I’d catch you up with what has been going here for the last few days.  I received my new Nike shoes, bright red Lunarfly 4 last week (totally necessary I swear, I didn’t have any red Nikes!) and my new red New Balance running shorts and so decided to take them out for a spin.

 The shoes are great, totally love them, but when I put on the shorts, I thought they seemed a little more snug than they looked in the picture on the website.  They fit just fine and are really comfortable, just a little shorter and more close fitting than I expected.  It wasn’t until I was putting them in the laundry that I realised that the shorts that I ordered in a medium were actually a small! The Iconic stuffed up and sent me the wrong size!  But I am totally stoked that I am able to comfortably able to wear running shorts in a small, and not only put them on, but exercise in them without suffering any chafing or other discomfort.  Yet another one of those lightbulb moments when the changes that have been quietly happening suddenly make themselves obvious.

I have had a few exercise fails over the last few days.  On Friday I had planned to go to yoga and walk, then found a new Zumba class to try on Friday afternoon.  I decided that since Zumba is such a great calorie burner, I would forgo my walk for the class and also miss yoga rather than paying for two classes in one day.  This new class is at 4.30 on a Friday afternoon and if I like it, it could be a good addition to my regular exercise schedule once school starts next week.  So off I went to the class and waited outside the hall and waited and waited…..Apparently this instructor does not run classes during school holidays, which is fine but it would have been helpful for her to mention this on her website.  On Saturday, I went to yoga, but the torrential downpour and high winds killed the idea of any outdoor exercise.  I did pull out the Wii Zumba and shook my booty for a bit on Saturday arvo, but not quite the same as a long walk.  I did do 8km both yesterday and Sunday, but family drama interfered with yesterday’s midday yoga class.

Soooo, today, another walk and tomorrow will be a walk during the day and Zumba during the evening.   Thursday will be another long walk, Friday and Saturday will be yoga and walking on both days.  Next week is back to work.  I have done a lot of exercise over this break and I have enjoyed the time to relax and give my brain a break.  This new job has been great and I love the challenge of it, but it has also been stressful and there have been a lot of expectations that I was not prepared for.  I have another 5 weeks on this gig and then I am a tumble weed once more.
